IPL 2019, 1st QLFR: Mumbai Enter In Final By Defeating Chennai By 6 Wickets

The Qualifier 1 match of the 12th season of Indian Premier League was played between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets in the first qualifier of the IPL 2019 and secured their place in the final. In the match, Chennai scored 131 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs after winning the toss. Chennai started poorly in the match and lost the wicket of Du Plessis, Raina, Watson, and Murali Vijay by scoring just 65 runs in 12.1 overs.

Mumbai Indians In IPL Final For The 5th Time

Captain MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu tried to handle Chennai's innings and shared 66 runs in 47 balls for the fifth wicket to score 131 runs for 4 wickets.
Ambati Rayudu (42) and MS Dhoni (37) returned unbeaten. For Mumbai, Rahul Chahar scored 2, Kunal Pandya and Jayant Yadav 1-1. 

In reply, Mumbai Indians made 132 for 4 wickets in 18.3 overs and win a match with 6 wickets and entered the finals of the IPL 2019. For Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 71 and was adjudged for Man of the Match.

Chennai To Play Qualifier-2 Match

The tour of the Chennai Super Kings, which lost in this match, is not over yet and it will get a chance to qualify. On May 10, Chennai will play qualifier-2 with the winner of the Eliminator match between Hyderabad and Delhi capitals. And the winning team will face Mumbai Indians in the finals on May 12. 

This is the third defeat in Chennai's Mumbai by the 12th edition of IPL. In both the league stage matches, Chennai Super Kings had lost a match against Mumbai Indians by 37 and 46 respectively.
