Bihar, Muzaffarpur: EVM Machines Found In A Hotel During Polling, An Order Of Inquiry

During the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections, on Monday, a two-balloting unit, a control unit, and two VVPAT machines were found from a hotel in Muzaffarpur in Bihar. 

The polling was held on May 6 in Muzaffarpur. In this case, District Magistrate Alok Ranjan Ghosh said that the machines recovered from the hotel were reserved machines, which were to be used when required to replace any bad machines.

Alok Ranjan Ghosh told the news agency ANI, "Some reserve machines were given to the sector officer so that they could be replaced by these machines in a bad situation.

After switching EVM machines, the officer went into his car with a 2 balloting unit, 1 control unit, and 2 VVPAT. "He should not have taken machines in the hotel which are against the rules. Since they have violated the rules, therefore departmental scrutiny will be done.

Voting on five Lok Sabha seats in Bihar on Monday. These included Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Saran, Hajipur, and Sitamarhi. Counting of votes will take place on 23-May-2019.
