KXIP VS RCB, IPL 2019, 28th Match:- Royal Challengers Bangalore Won IPL 2019 First Match, Defeated Punjab

Mohali: The Royal Challengers Bangalore, which lost six matches in a row, has opened their account in IPL in 2019. Bangalore defeated Punjab by 8 wickets in their seventh match on Saturday. In the match played at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Punjab presented a challenge of 173 runs. In reply, Bangalore achieved this target in 19.2 overs at the loss of 2 wickets. 


Virat Kohli (67) was the highest runs for Bangalore. He hit eight fours in his 53 balls. Bangalore started a good start chasing the target. Parthiv Patel (19) and Kohli added 43 runs for the first wicket. The first blow to the team was in the fourth over in the form of Patel. Patel hit four fours in his 9-ball innings.

After this Kohli stepped up the innings with AB de Villiers (unbeaten 59). Both shared an important partnership of 85 runs for the second wicket. One time it seemed that these both would come back only by winning the match. But Kohli became the victim of Mohammed Shami in the 16th over.

From here, De Villiers took up the front with Marcus Stonis (unbeaten 28 runs) and scored an unearned partnership of 46 runs to win the match.

First inning:-

Earlier, Punjab had lost 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs to bat before losing the toss and pitched a strong score of 173 runs.

The highest run for Punjab was made by Gayle (90). He planted 10 fours and 5 sixes in his innings of 64 balls. Even though he missed a century, he took one end from the beginning.

Apart from Gayle, any other Punjab batsman could not stay with him on the other end nor make a quick run. Gayle also achieved a unique achievement in this innings. He has become the first player to score 50 plus 100 times in T20.

Punjab started well. Punjab scored 36 runs in five overs, but Gayle had scored a score of 24 runs in sixth overs, with the help of three fours and 2 sixes on Mohammad Siraj's over.

Mandeep Singh (18 not out) did not make enough runs but he got along with Gayle till the end. He hit just one four in the 16-ball innings. Gayle failed to make runs in the end. Gayle needed five runs to complete the century on the last ball, but he could only have four runs.
